Hi,

I am trying to connect to FTP server. I have ip address and username, password for that. I tried it using Internet Explorer. After a while IE dispalys error "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage" (Attached screenshot).
ftp://(ip address)

I also tried it using Filezilla FTP client. I couldn't connect to server.  I verified username, pass and ip address from website administrator and it is correct.

Can you tell me what the problem might be?

Thank you. Can't connect to FTP. Can't connect to FTP.

Assuming others can connect, just not you, try turning off your firewall.  Also check the firewall settings in your router.

Download and install the 30-day EVAL of Robo-FTP client.

Run the program and type the following into the console window: (except use your login credentials)
TRACELOG "HelpMe.log"
FTPLOGON "server.toconnect.com" /user="myuserid" /pw="mypassword"

This will fail but it will produce a file named HelpMe.log that should contain enough information to determine if this is a situation where you can't reach the remote site, if you reach but the login credentials are rejected, or if you are authenticated on the control channel but can't transfer anything on the data channel.  The log should be easy enough to read but you can post it here in a follow-up if you have questions.

Do a telnet to the ftp Ip address on port 21 and see if you get a banner or a blank screen. If you are able to telent successfully then required ports are open at both ends.

go to run-- cmd
type:-  telnet <ftp server ip address> 21

I used WS_FTP professional and I was able to connect to FTP Server. I couldn't figure out why I am not able to connect using FileZilla or through IE.

At least its working for me now. Thank you all for your suggestions.
