Copy mysql database files to different server

Hi,

I was using Ubuntu as my test server and for some reason it will not start again. Anyway I am still able to read all the files through another partition installed with Ubuntu. I need to copy my mysql databases but so far I have not been able. I have tried copying the .frm, myd and myi files from folder /var/bin/mysql in the corrupted partition to the same folder in the newly installed partition. The thing is that I cannot access the database from mysql server. What else do I need to/can do?

I got it! It was a matter of file permissions. I just copied all the files and gave mysql user permissions to them. Done!
