What is the syntax delete from tablename where ... cascade so I can delete the child records also.

There isn't a delete cascade.  If the constraints were set up with delete cascade the children are deleted automatically.

If not, delete the children first.

When you truncate a table does it automatically delete the child records or are the child's table FK consstraints disabled?
