Hello,

I would like some advise on hardware needed to setup openvpn for about 250 users.

Only one website will be viewed via openvpn so only http traffic will go through it - website is a extranet with not many images etc so mostly just traffic being webpages.

i.e webserver connects to openvpn and is given ip 10.0.0.254 and then when users are logged in to openvpn and direct their browsers to 10.0.0.254 they see the website. so again its only the one website which is limited content.

All users will be connected but only likley 100 apache requests to the website at once.

What type of hardware / ram would you recommend?
I assume using a VPS would not be a good idea?

thanks.

a Normal desktop PC with 1GB RAM, and two network cards will work fine.

I recommend using pfSense as the OpenVPN server. http://www.pfsense.org

The Web GUI will help you to configure and monitor it.

thanks - I've been told 2gig of ram and a dual core would be best - from openvpn - for active server.

thanks.
