Windows XP - can I retrieve a blue screen error message from a recovery console?

My Xp doesn't boot (in any mode). My computer restarts after the xp welcome screen appears. A blue screen shows up for a second with an error message but I can't read it.
I can only run a recovery console at the moment. Is there any file I can find the error message in?

I don't think you can get the error message from the recovery console. Have you tried to press open the XP boot menu by pressing F8 before die Windows logo shows up? There should be an option to disable automatic restarts.
