Replication Test
Client report that DNS name resolution is not working on network and also
report that AD replication between two domains controllers are failing. You are
requested to run some test & prove the AD replication & DNS name resolution are
working fine?
A. Run DCDIAG /q command to check for error on domain controllers
B. Run repadmin command to that check AD replication between domain controllers
C. Use REPLMON tool to give report to customer on AD replication
D. Ping to the GUID of DC & make sure that GUID resolves to fully qualified domain
name of domain controller
E. Use NSLOOKUP to query A record of domain controller
F. Check hosts file and make sure domain controller host name are mapped to correct
IP address
////////////////////////// ///////
I think it is d) reason others can detect issue however at the end the it is host file that causes the error. This not only gives solution, however detects the problem.
