Using iPad in China

I have a user going to China and he wants to use his iPad while he is there. From what i found online you can get a prepaid sim card and then cut it down to fit the iPad tray. Does anyone know where I can order one and have it shipped to the satates so i can cut it down and make sure it fits before he leaves?

Prepaid SIM chips are all over the place.  Just Google for it:

I see the ones for phone. But I am having a hard time finding ones for data to use in the iPad.

What is the question exactly?

Is it "can I get a compatible sim chip to allow for iPad use in China?" or "can I get a data sim chip and do something to it to make it work in an ipad while in China?"

Because the answer to the former is "no"  I'm not sure they even sell the device in China yet, making the need for a China based chip irrelevant.  The answer to the latter appears to be "maybe" but I'm basing that on how you opened this question.  If it's possible to cut a SIM down to size and use it, then finding a sim is a Google search.   If you are not sure about this, my inclination is that you are out of luck.

The latter. Someone mentioned to me that you can buy prepaid data sim cards once you are in China. However the sim cards are bigger than what we use here so they have devices (or paper templates) that let you cut it down to fit inside the iPad sim tray. I explained this to the user going to China but he wants the sim card ordered, shipped here and then cut down so that all he has to do it pop it in, turn on the iPad and start surfing. Before I tell him that this is not possible and he has to purchase the prepaid data sim card in china, and in the city he will be visiting I want to make sure I have all my bases covered. Not that you care, but this user is one of those that if you tell him no, and he finds out it can be done he rubs it in sarcastically.

Unicom is provider most often mentioned but all accounts I can find indicate that the people did this successfully once they were in China.  But, that's your target...

I've searched, but I cannot find a prepaid SIM that will ship to you that is guaranteed to work.  I sympathize with your situation but you may want to have him do this once he's there.  I assume data roaming doesn't work with the iPad?
