IT Asset Management Software

I am wondering is there any open source software to handle our Hardware Inventory and make our life easier. We have approximately of 100 computers, 10 servers ... and 50 Printers etc ..!

We frequently recycle the old one's and bring in new stuff's.

Not different software to install, choose which method you want to install Zenoss.  If you just want to test it out grab the VMware appliance

I can't tell you what exactly to download because I do not know how you plan on implementing it.  I.E. Install it on a running Linux server, provision a new Linux server, Install on Mac, etc

The VMware appliance is the best option but you will need to have a running VMware server or ESXi

We dont have VMWare Server or ESXI.
If this software runs only on VMWare Server or ESXI, i wouldnt be able to proceed forward.

ESXi is free, as is VMware server

If these don't suit you then install Ubuntu Server (or whatever you choose) on a machine and then pick the Zenoss install for the OS you chose previously

From my understanding, this specific software need a dedicated machine which has either ESXI - VMWare or Ubuntu Server ?

What i am looking is, a  standalone software package which can be installed on my local computer which is Windows 7.0 or Windows Vista with Excel or MS Access DB. Where i can fill the software with all our inventory details manually.

Ok, you can install virtual PC and create a Linux virtual where you can then install Zenoss.

I believe I have answered to the best of my ability

KCarney81, ofcourse you have answered best of your ability - i wish to give 500 points.

But if i closed this question, i would be left without an answer for the purpose of opening the question.

We are just looking for a Software Package which does IT Asset Management which has no Pre-condition installer and could be able to easily installed on Windows 7 or XP or Vista OS ..!
