IE 8 issue

I noticed that everytime I start my laptop or even shutdown my laptop all my settings seem to disappear.  For example, when I go on to EE I always need to check the keep me logged in, so I don't have to constantly have to put in a password every single time, but I'm always prompted to do so either way.

Is there a way to change this?

This definitely needs more details:
1. What OS? Windows 7 ?
2. If its Windows 7. Does it says "Protected Mode: On" in the status bar.
3. Is this for a particular web site . or all web sites? Some sites such as bank sites always block passwords from memory.
4. Is this a new problem? did it ever remember passwords ?
5. do you have new anti-virus, anti-spyware software installed ?
6. What "security zone" does the status bar say you are in when on these pages? Internet, Local Internet, Trusted, Restricted?
7. Does this problem happen in some other browser ? Chrome, Firefox ?

Under "Tools --> Internet Options", what setting do you have for "Browing History"?
