hello

i wanted to move my contacts from yahoo to outlook 2010 but it seems to have just moved the contact names without their tellephone number or email address.

i followed the procedure of going to yahoo contacts selecting tools then export, then selecting outlook as the output type.

this created a .csv file which i then imported into outlook via file > open > import

i selected "another program" from first option then "comma sperated value" from the second option box.

this has just imported the contact names.  i have opened the .csv file with excel and on the spreadsheet it has names, numbers and emails so does not seem to be a problem there.

any help appreciated

Hi dr,

Sounds like you missed one critical step although everything else was correct.

Start over and delete the contacts you imported.

Repeat your steps but, look closely, their should be a button that let's you map the data fields. It might be called field mapping.

It sounds like outlook is simply ignoring labeled fields.

Once you map email to emal and phone to phone, it should be fine. However, keep in mind that you will have to map home, mobile, work and other numbers separately. The same applicator emails.

Try that and let me know if that works.
