Acer Veriton 3700GX internal speakers not working

My school has a classroom of 30 Acer Veriton 3700GX desktop computers. Five of these computers have internal speakers that are not working. Sound drivers are installed because sound can be heard using an ear phone. We are using Windows XP Professional SP2...

whether it was working earlier? if yes then surely it's h/w issue. you may check if anything related to this in BIOS and it's disabled. if someone has reconnect the speaker plug into some different jack. just be sure. if nothing work, i am damn sure it's h/w fault you might have to change the speaker. not only that the further diagnostic should be, you should take this speaker and connect it to the system, where you are able to hear the sound from internal speaker, if it works, then it could be motherboard issue also.
