I have tried adding the "client hotfix - KB977384 for R3" as a seperate package and added this as a software install task in my "Deploy windows 7" Task sequence.  However this causes errors and looking at the following microsoft article http://support.microsoft.com/kb/977384  they are saying that this is not the way that it should be done.

They are saying that if you add this as a software package it will cause the SCCM client to stop:-

"For operating system deployments, the KB977384 hotfix must be installed during a ConfigMgr 2007 OSD task sequence in the "Setup Windows and ConfigMgr" task. Otherwise, the problem will continue to occur while the task sequence is executed. Additionally, the "Install Software" task cannot be used to install the hotfix. Trying to do this will cause the ConfigMgr 2007 client service to stop, which will cause the task sequence to fail."

I have the code they suggest in the article but I am not sure if I have done it correctly.  Do you or anyone currently do this and if so how?  I have include the code I use in the installation properties of the "Setup Windows and ConfigMgr" task section not in the push Client installation method which I currently have disabled.

PATCH="%_SMSTSMDataPath%\OSD\DR400004\i386\hotfix\KB977384\ sccm2007ac-sp2-kb977384-x86-enu.msp"

What is the OSD part of this?  isthe code correct?

Why you need to install KB977384, this hotofix should apply on Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager 2007 Service Pack 2 before start installing R3

after installing hotfix and while install R3, wizard will prepare package that you need to distribute to clients.

I have installed this on the server but this just creates a hotfix that you then have to add to your client install.  You can install this as a seperate software distribution package that I have done and this deploys fine.

However I wish to add this to the OS deployment task sequence and if you add this as an additional software install task it causes the task sequence  to report failed and will not install the additonal software install task I added

OK, in this case, go To hotifix package -> Program -> Proprieties - > Advanced ->  and select Allow this program to be installed for the install software task sequence without being advertised.
