I have a pretty new windows 7 pro computer.  I started having printer problems with it.  I have HP laser printers connected with USB.  When I try to print from a program it freezes the program.  If I go to printers and devices, and try to go to printer properties I get the message above.  I have a couple of different HP printers that I have tried and get the same result on all of them.  It will tell me that the driver is not installed and attempts to install the driver, but it does not improve the problem.  I have gone to the Server Properties and deleted the drivers from the drivers tab.  I plug in the printer, it installs the printer and downloads the driver automatically, but that does not solve the problem.  If I go to the One note printer or Microsoft XLS printer, they work fine.

Are the drivers that are installed for Windows 7?  Maybe the printers are not compatible with Windows 7.  What are the product names?

I have other windows 7 machines that the printers work with.  HP laserjet 4350n.  HP laserjet P4015n.  I changed the print driver to the universal print driver.  Now when I go to print properties, it tell me the print driver is not installed, would you like to install the print driver.  I tell it yes, and it goes throught the wizard that installs the driver, but next time I go to print properties, it tells me again that the print driver is not installed.

Sounds like the printer software is corrupted thats why you get the Function address error. Try this step

1. Download

http://www.ursoftware.com/product/uninstaller/download.htm

2. Select pro option.

3. Uninstall HP printer product.

4. It will go through 3 stages. Make sure you complete those steps.

5. Restart the computer

Go to hp printer website -select the model number and install the latest software or can install from the disc.

I suspect it was a microsoft update, so I did a system restore back to the first of the month, which made the printer start working again, and then turned off automatic updates.
