Does anybody have a way to send a file using a google apps account (gmail).

For example, lets say I have a pdf on my desktop, i can either right click it, Send to, Mail Recipient

Or If the file is open, you could go to file, attach to email

I know you can do it in outlook, is there any other way?

Try using Affixa (http://www.affixa.com/). Once you install the software, you can add your Gmail account and make sure to check "Launch Gmail after creating a draft message". This will enable the Send To->Mail Recipient with Gmail.
