Software for 1-man account service?

My accountant is a one-man accounting service serving small businesses locally. He wants to take the leap to have a dynamic website and provide the ability for his clients to upload files rather then e-mail.

My impulse is to recommend a CMS like SharePoint or Joomla, but are there other cloud services established for  accountants' use?

wordpress is another good CMS, but since your accountant probably has better things to do than learn how to be a webmaster, I suggest going to more of a turnkey solution.   rackspace.com is an ISP that hosts exchange mail and sharepoint.  you can have them do both, and they have lots of built-in templates ready to go for sharepoint.  I assure you, in under 30 mins, your accountant can have the site going by just clicking the templates that he wants, and then customizing them rather painlessly.   I'm trying not to sound like a commercial, but it really is painless for their managed sharepoint.

If you just want a secure means for clients to upload/download files with very little work,  check out egnyte.  for around $20/month (well, it depends on amount of data), but your accountant can have a site and then use the javascript web GUI to create an account, and then it will send a automated email to your client that they can use to access the site.  Very easy for clients, as it is a simple web interface that can be used to upload/download files from/to their PC into the secure area on your site. they can set their own passwords also and change them when they want to.
