Hi,

I already have the following:

BAS Server 01 and 02
BES Primary
BES Standby

Connecting to SQL 2005 Database

It's all working fine.

Now I want to introduce Database mirroring....

What would be the precautions I should be aware of?

Thanx in Advance

Also, this is out test environment. In our Prod we have two SQL servers but they are not configured as mirror, they are clustered.

So whats are Pros and Cons of BES confi databases as "MIrrored" and as "Clustered" ?

Hi,

Suggest you include a Witness server to automate failover - i.e. you will need 3 servers running SQL.

1. Backup your database first!
2. Make sure the database isn't configured as a 'Simple' database
3. Backup the database and transaction log
4. Restore the database and transaction log but set them to Restore with No Recovery)
5. Create SQL Service accounts in AD (if using windows authentication) and change the service to run under these - grant them admin rights to the SQL
6. When mirroring the databases, use the above service accounts during the mirroring process.

Other than that, it works, however, you may need to manually add some registry keys to the servers in order for them to 'realise' mirroring is enabled. The alternative is to enable SQL mirroring within the BAS service and then force an update to the other servers - this should create the registry keys.

Hi,

With regards to Clustering, RIM DO NOT support this - I have never tried it for this reason and whilst it might work, it would affect any support agreement you have with RIM and/or a Telco.
