Hi, i have over 500 mp3 songs that i need to change the ID3v2 tag on

I have all of these songs named correctly as a file such as : Artist - Track Name.mp3

Some of these songs already have ID3 tags but not all the tags are correct and i do not want all of the tags... i only want Artist and Track Name (i do not want Album, Year, etc)

Is there a script or process that i can run on all of these songs that will delete all tag information that is already in place, then get the file name and track name and insert it into the ID3v2 tag

thanks in advance

Two suggestions.

TagScanner by Sergey Serkov:

You will get an idea if this program would prove useful to you from the User Manual:
http://xdlab.ru/files/ts_manual.pdf
and from the screenshots here:
http://www.xdlab.ru/en/screen.htm

Download page:
http://www.xdlab.ru/en/download.htm

Direct Download Links:

Installer Version (10th Feb 2011):
http://xdlab.ru/files/tagscan5.1.596setup.exe

Standalone Non-Installer "Portable" Version (10th Feb 2011):
http://xdlab.ru/files/tagscan5.1.596.zip
Unzip and open the "help" sub-folder where you will have web file based help pages starting at "1.html" to make an informed decision if it is for you.  Running the Portable version stores your settings in the "Tagscan.ini" file, so you can run it from any folder or a Flash Drive without installing yet another program.

May I suggest that you test out ANY batch MP3 "tagger" program on a COPY of your actual music repository.  I remember being involved in several questions here in E-E, and found a lot of questions in many forums while involved with those questions, concerning peoples' music file collections having the wrong tags applied to them by "batch" programs.

Even the paid-for programs were not immune, and having recourse to complain about a product you bought will not fix the collection of files it took you a long time to compile.
