I have an error when trying to save an entry in TAS BOOKS 3...

Btrieve Error: 5

Btr Error (X:\ITS\MTATRN.B): 5 Duplicate Key Value

Click OK and it comes up again!

Put simply, a Duplicate key error. Is a programming bug. The developer created a unique key, and the database is preventing a duplicate from being created.

You may need to contact the original developer for help on something like this.

Alternatively, yoy can enable MKDE Tracing on the database engine and find out whoch call is resulting in the 5, and figure out how to avoid it yourself, but other than deleting the already-existing record that is causing the dupe, this might be difficult, too.

The software was trying to use the same posting number twice...

The previous posting number was the same as the next posting number

Changed the "next posting number" add 1 - and it worked fine
