Hi

About an hour ago, we had an issue where we couldn't move mailboxes between Exchange 2007 servers. The error message was: the address list service on the server Exch2007Mailbox1 is not running. The Exchange server address list failed to respond.

I checked forums and the problem seemed to be fixed by restarting the MS Exchange Sys Attendant (SA), which I did and it did fix it!

Does anyone know WHY this would fix and it any possible causes?

Apparently SA stopping is a known bug. Address list service is part of the SA service. In 2010 they are separate services.

Are you full patched (service packs and rollup? I believe Exchange is on service pack 3, rollup 2.

Hi Joking

The SA didn't actually stop, it had to be restarted....

We're not fully patched yet, but I'm curious how this happened on three A/A/P cluster at the same time?

I've read it was some kind of timing bug - but that it has been patched.
