Hi,

I am currently looking into the best way to SEO my websites navigation and some of the key phrases that I want to target are not the most friendly.

I want to have the site navigation anchor text to obviously be optimized for the page it is link too.

So I was wondering if it is SE friendly if I make an image of friendly text with the alt tag value as my keyphrase and to have that image wrapped in an anchor tag to allow site navigation.

Would this be equivalent to just having a plain anchor text navigation system?

thanks!

You're right; search engines treat the alt text as anchor text. You should be good to go.
