Hi all, well I have a PDF file that a set a password on a while back, it's my credit file that's why I set a password on it. Went to access it today and bugger me I can't remember the password I put on it. Is there any way around it or is the file dead?

Hi Daz

The advice in here is problematic. I understand that you are the author and that you have forgotten the password, but we don't have the means to verify this, hence we could be given advice that is not legit.

The background is that you cannot legally open or do edits to a PDF that is protected against opening/edits. Any advice here to password remover and cracking tools is illegal and against EE rules. Even if you are a legitimate user the advice here would remain and EE may be seen as propogating that advice for other less legitimate purposes.

Sorry
capt.

Yeah we ll the simple answer to my question would have been, the file is dead as you cannot crack a password protected PDF as it's illegal instead of all this carry on! Some of us are none the wiser hence we PAY $$$ to join these forums to find out.
