Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 SATA not always recognized by mobo SATA
Replacing a failing drive (surface errors). New drive Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 SATA is intermittently recognized by mobo SATA port, but works fine in an external USB / SATA enclosure.
Mobo SATA port worked fine with old drive.
Please advise. Thanks Experts.

Alto, try another SATA port just to be sure that port isn't actually bad. Your first drive may have failed because of the faulty SATA port.
