Robots.txt Image Exclusion

When adding a robots.txt file to my website that says to exclude the img directory, will that prevent my images from showing up on google?

Or will they show up because the spiders could get them from the "non-excluded" pages that use those images?

Yes, this will prevent bots from indexing your images. You can also prevent the image bot from indexing the images if you want. A few references below.

I know how to create a robots file, I just want to know if robots will index images that are in an excluded directory but included/referenced within web pages that are not excluded?
