mailbox move to EX2010 changes Primary smtp address

Im currently moving Exch2003 mailboxes to Exch2010. I’m experiencing the following issue:

In exchange 2003 I route multiple domain/name spaces; however, my primary name space is vitamins.com. If a user mailbox gets moved to ex2010 and they are using one of the secondary name spaces as their  PRIMARY address (e.g. james.smith@calcium.com)  exchange changes their Primary address to james.smith@vitamins.com, the default namespace.  How can I prevent exchange from changing their primary address?

on exchange 2010, all my email policys are the legacy policies from exch 2003. When trying to edit the policies I get" The specified e-mail address policy couldn’t be edited. Email address policy created in legacy version of exchange must be upgraded using ‘set-emailaddresspolicy’ with the exchange 2010 recipient filter

Do I need to address the above or create new email address policies or?

You are trying to stage this migration aren't you? (e.g one email at a time on certain days etc ?)

Because, in reality you could just setup new policies once all the boxes have moved over and applyt them that way. However, that command is necessary when you are doing a migration/transition from Exchange 2003 to 2010.

So, my question is: Are you looking to do a staged transition or can you do everyone all at once?

Im running the following:

I've upgraded my 3 E-mail Address Policies, and tested again. The move process from EX2003 to EX2010 is still changing the the users Primary email address to the primary of the domain. Any ideas?

You may have done the conversion, but have you setup the policies yet? Whenever I did mine I had ad setup where users were identified by department and I setup the users in that fashion. I will have to take a look at everything on my end to see how it should work
