Hi,
I am trying to install the library LibXML-1.70 on my unix account.
I tried two methods, both unsuccessful.

method 1: using
perl -MCPAN -e "install 'XML::LibXML'"
the result; is always unsuccessful at the CPAN site (result below).

I attached the output as code

method 2:
I downloaded the .gz
http://search.cpan.org/~pajas/XML-LibXML-1.70/LibXML.pod
XML/LibXML17.70.tar.gz
I unzip when i execute  perl Makefile.PL
the output complain it cannot find libxml2 not found and ot get libxml2 from
http://xmlsoft.org/
I downloaded libxml2-2.7.8-5mdv2011.0.src.rpm and libxml2-devel-2.7.8-5mdv2011.0.i586.rpm
but still it cannot find them..

Can you please give me comments/suggestions for both method 1 and method2.
Thank-you.

method 2 output:

cpan-output.txt
Makefile-output.txt

Is the directory containing the libxml library (likely libxml2.so or something similar) in your LD_LIBRARY_PATH?  If not, it may still be picked up (depending what the dir is and how your compiler is built) but you can try to manually add it to LD_LIBRARY_PATH.

Is the directory containing the header (.h) files for libxml picked up by your C compiler?  You can try to manually include it by setting CPPFLAGS to include -I/dir/to/header/files.

The CPAN failure looks like a firewall problem.  ftp is failing to connect.
