Exchange migration questions discoveries

Hey guys,
Can anyone advice on exchange migrations.  2003-2010 or 2007-2010.  Say you walk into the client.  What's the procedure?  What questions you asking, what you looking at, etc, etc.  Maybe any references, links, etc..

I think the first question you need to ask is whether or not they are using Public Folders.  Not because they can't migrate; however, in the long term, they should have a plan to migrate from public folders to SharePoint.

We upgraded from 5 to 2003, and eventually to 2007.  Then we dropped our internal Exchange solution for the Microsoft Business Productivity Online Suite, it made sense for us as we are small operation.
