I have a HP laptop model g62 and a Dell Vostro desktop.  The HP is a windows 7 Home Premium OS and the Dell is a Windows 7 Professional.  The HP is a 64 bit and the dell is a 32 bit.
They are connected by ehternet cables to a Verizon FIOS DSL modem.  From the HP laptop, I typed the syntax : \\DellVostro\c in trying to log on to the Dell, and I got a screen for the Windows Security.  Is this the User login password, which I entered, but it says that it was not correct.  What am I doi8ng wrong.  What is the windows security and how and where do I find it on the laptop? thank u

Are both computers in the same work group? Also you must include a "$" at the end of the unc path.  it should be \\dellVostro\c$.  When the password screen comes up make sure you're typing the password for the dell vostro.  Also can you try the same thing from the Vostro to the HP, does it work?  Check all these things and let me know what you get.

I tried but it says the password is invalid although I made sure it was typed slowly and correctly. On my laptop when I click on Devices and Printers, I can see all the printers that are installed on the Dell Vostro.  But I cannot see the c or e drives on the Dell Vostro.
On the laptop in the windows explorer, I can see the Dell Vostro, but only the folders of Documents, Music, Pictures and Videos (all are libraries). When I try to double click these from the laptop, it does nothing.
Looks like I must be dowing something wrong.  thanks for your help.
