Hello,

I just brought new MacBook Pro 2011 computer. This is my first Mac. I'm trying to develop/design websites for Joomla, WordPress like CMS.

Question:
Can anyone suggest me best applications (prefer open source, free, commercial) for these scenarios? Web Design -- Editors: To edit PHP, HTML, CSS3 etc.

Note: Actually I likes new Dreamweaver CS5 for Mac, but it's too expensive. I welcome reviews on this product too.

Thanks.

Hi SrinathS,

You sort of need to make a choice here.  Do you need a design tool or a code management tool?

Actually both. Normally I use code management tool.

The problem is you won't find a good free tool that does both code management and design.  Dreamweaver is the best option for an all-in-one.

For code, I suggest Aptana.  For design, SeaMonkey

Is Dreamweaver CS5 really worth? It seems to be Aptana is good, but never used it before. Since I user CS3 in Windows.

For advanced users who don't mind using a couple of different tools or if you can't afford DW, then no...it isn't worth it.

If you don't have a good handle on HTML or CSS, DW is worth it for the automation it can introduce.

Okay. It seems to be Aptana is suitable for my needs at this time. Thanks.
