Hello Experts

I am writing a iphone specific web app using the iwebkit 5.04 framework, with the first screen being a login screen. What I want is when the 'Remember me' checkbox is on, for the login details to be remembered the next time app is opened from the homescreen. Currently the user has to enter the details everytime the app is opened. I have been reading lots of tutorials and it would seem localstorage is the best way to do it, but cannot find anything close to what I want. I am only just learning this html5 / iphone specific stuff so if anyone can help it would be much appreciated.

		<li class="bigfield"><input placeholder="Username" id="txtusername" name="txtusername" type="text" autocapitalize="off" value="" /></li>
		<li class="bigfield"><input placeholder="Password" id="txtpassword" name="txtpassword" type="password" /></li>
		<li class="checkbox"><span class="name">Remember Me</span><input id="remember" name="remember" type="checkbox" value=""/></li>
	</ul>
	<ul class="pageitem">
    	<li class="button"><input name="submit" id="submitbtn" type="submit" value="Login" value="" /></li>
    </ul>
</form>
