Yahoo mail, messenger acting strange

I have a computer that is running Widows 7.  All of a sudden there were issues with Yahoo, and Yahoo only,  On Messenger, the user would type buit nothing would show on his end when he sent, but the receiver would see the sentences.  So we deleted all Yahoo apps, reinstalled Yahoo plus, and Yahoo Messenger.   It worked for a day.   Then is started again, this time it is doing the same in Yahoo mail.   The user has another account in Windows Live mail and it works fine.   Any ideas?

Try opening IE in safe mode (iexplore -extoff) and see if it makes a difference. Is so, disable the add-ins and re-add one by one. .... Thinkpads_User

Can you uninstall Yahoo messenger and re-install it?  Based on your post, this seems like the first thing to do.

I did that.   I uninstalled Yahoo Messenger, Yahoo Plus and Yahoo toolbar then re-installed them.   They worked for about 1 day then began with issues the next day

You can try running SFC /SCANNOW (fixes protected files), but I don't think Messenger is in that class. Try scanning thoroughly for malware as a virus might cause this. ... Thinkpads_User

I will see this customer tomorrow and run Malwarebytes.   I just found out that yesterday messenger and Yahoo mail worked fine, but today the text is not showing up again.  Also when they uses AIM, AIM always runs fine, no issues with text not showing up.   SO it is definitely an issue with Yahoo products.  Maybe there is Malware out there directed at Yahoo.   We shall see

I ran Malwarebytes and the tower is completely clean.   I saw another user who went to registry, software, microsoft, windows, current user, zones to make sure only folders 0,1, 2, 3, 4 were there and those were the 5 folders I saw.  Any ideas what is causing this?   I uninstalled all Yahoo and re-installed, same issue.   I called Yahoo support and they say they know the isssue but it is going to cost $70 to fix it.   Any ideas?

Another part of this is that most times when Yahoo Mesenger is opened it gets an error message that says it has to  shut down.   Can this havsomething to do with addons in IE?

I think I shut down Yahoo Addons in IE and it might have worked.   What will happen without the add-ins

Take a look at the add-ons. There should only be a few active and then you can see how it works with the Yahoo Add-in gone, and then if necessary disable the rest until you know how it is going. You can always re-enable. ... Thinkpads_User

Since disabling the Yahoo add-ins,  messenger seems to be working fine.  Thanks
