my listservdeliveries go to spam

Hi guys

I have a listserv and for years has been working fine.
Since last year people start complaining that most of their received messages from the list serv are been capture or not delivered by their spam filters.

Sometimes i have to call their ISP and tell them these are valid, clean messages and they edit their filters and problem fix.
But them after a while it happens again and again.
I am using L-soft, which is manage by another company, so the listserv is not host in house.

What can i do to fix this ?
How does spam / spam filters work?

Having my own hosted listserv will be a better option?

Hi,

I am not familiar with listserv or L-soft but I am decent experience with the Spam emails. There are certain common checks which are performed by various Anti-spam vendors/ISP to block or tag a email as spam.
Most common are:
1. The IP address from where the email has been sent should have a good reputation and must not be listed in any of the RBLs.
2. The IP address from where the email has been sent should have a proper PTR record or R-DNS, also called as reverse DNS record.
3. Now a days it has become common practice and advisable to get the SPF record for your mail server, make sure you have one.
4. MX record for the domain should be proper.
5. Your server should not be acting as Open-relay.
