Quick Books Expense For GAS

Im trying to figure out how to add my gas expense for my company into quickbooks.

steps I've taken are:
Added a Fuel account in chart of accounts but im not sure how to process a transaction from my debit card to my expense section.

Open a Write check window
Leave the check number blank (or write DM - for debit memo)
enter the date of the transaction
Set up a generic vendor called Gas PUrchases
Add this vendor to the check
Categorize to Fuel  In the memo you can put which gas station.
Save & Close
