Optipoint 500 Standard Speaker Phone quality acts as if it's half duplex

Hello,

We have a Siemens HiPath3800 switch and Optipoint 500 Standard digital desk phones.
We have experienced several issues where the speaker phone quality.  On a given call
while you are speaking and the caller starts speaking (at the same time) rather than hearing the cross talk, the caller doesn't hear us anymore as if the microphone on the speaker cuts us out if it is receiving communication.  Therefore the caller can miss critical information.

We've worked with Siemens and tried IP phones, other model Optipoint and the entire line of OpenStage phones, but run into the same issue.  

I'm wondering if anyone has experienced this and is it truly an issue you can't use speakerphone on Siemens switches?

We have tried a polycom desk phone but it doesn't work to display caller ID and other key features as it doesn't integrate with the phone system.  We require a good quality speaker phone for impromptu conference calls.  Any help would be great!
