Hello,
I have this one server that I can't seem to get the updates on, the last 8 security updates.
it worked fine in past.
I checked the logs that this is the error I am getting:  Exit code = 0x8024000B

I tried couple Microsoft fixes, no results.
also tried to rename this file: Spupdsvc.old, no luck.

this is Windows 2003 Server SP2

"antime you see a message about failing to backup datastore, or aany error regarding datastore, you need to stop automatic updates services, delete c:\windows\softwaredistribution folder and resatart the automatic updates service. You can then run a wuauclt.exe /detectnow to perform a checkin then and repull down the updates. That error usually refers to a corruption of files in that folder. It will be recreated after it checks in the next time."

Please try a clean boot to see if that will clear it up:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/310353

also reset your winsock
netsh winsock reset

also checked these:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/971058

Is Windows WMI service running?

Also check malwarebytes on the system once to make sure there is no security lapse.
