change url display in javascript

I'm wondering if it's possible to change the url displayed without redirecting the browser. I have this page like:

product-scores.php?status=doc&prod_id=23

On a Javascript onchange of a select option list I want to not display the prod_id, so I want the url to display only:
product-scores.php?status=doc

Thanks,
Victor
