Uncaught exception: java.lang.NullPointerException

everytime I try to open Blackberry messenger on a Blackberry Curve i get the following:

Uncaught exception: java.lang.NullPointerException

I have uninstalled and reintalled the aplication several times, I have reset , taken out the battey etc.

Hi,

This is a common issue with older Curves. I believe the best solution is to wipe the OS and reload with a later version.

You can download later versions of the OS for your device (based on carrier) from

http://us.blackberry.com/support/downloads/download_sites.jsp

Alternatively, you can try their online update tool:

http://uk.blackberry.com/update/

Hi,

You can use desktop manager to backup anything you require prior to the update.
