How to set 11a/b/g Wireless LAN Mini PCI Express Adapter in promiscuous mode ?

Hello guys,

Applications which depend on winpcap don't work cause they fail to set my wireless adapter filter to promiscuous mode.

I have an IBM thinkpad. The wireless adapter is :
11a/b/g Wireless LAN Mini PCI Express Adapter

I've got winpcap installed and I confirmed it's running.

Please check and advise.

Thanks

That wireless adapter is most likely using an Atheros chipset.  You probably need the correct drivers to set it into promiscuous mode (meaning that the drivers you currently have probably don't).

What OS are you using?

any updates ?
Sorry, it's been a sick weekend - literally - I'm sick.
I can't locate any promiscuous mode XP drivers nor can I confirm that any other OS drivers (ie: Linux, Vista, Win7) support promiscuous mode for that adapter.  I think your best bet may be to get a cheap USB WLAN adapter that supports promiscuous mode.

Surprisingly I got a spare one, which is
Pluscom WU11N-AR9170

Their official website is http://pluscom.cn but when I open it I have a note-pad like interface, no website basically. How can I get the drivers ? Can you tell if it can run in promiscuous mode ?

I'd like to say a big thank you first of for this forum.

I've got a lil challenge here: my system is an IBM Thinkpad T60(WINDOWS 7 ), and the wireless adapter is 11a/b/g Wireless LAN Mini PCI Express Adapter. Please, how do i get the adapter to run in monitor mode so i can use it with aircrack-ng. But currently, the adapter worked with commview and when i checked it on Device Manager it nolonger says Atheros but CommView. And when I start CommView, it actually does go into monitor mode. But I can't get the adapter to go into monitor mode in trying to run aircrack-ng. i don't have airmon-ng though. please, how do i go about this. Thank you.
