Hi,

I am trying to transfer a web site project in microsoft visual studio 2010 from one computer to anotherl  Both running Visual studio 2010 and SQL Express 2008.
I copy and pase the website folder to the new computer and tryied restoring database on the new computer which doesn't work.
Also tried coying the .mdf and .log files to the sql data file and attaching the .mdf file.  This works in management studio but when running the web site and trying to log in give an error with user instances.

System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: Failed to generate a user instance of SQL Server due to a failure in starting the process for the user instance. The connection will be closed

Anyone know how to solve this or a good guide on how to transfer web site project to another computer.

Thank you

Backing up and Restoring a sql database to another server doesn't automatically get the security logins also.  Delete the user from the "Databases/YourDatabase/Security" folder under the database, then add it back again.  Make sure the user exists in the "Security/Logins" folder for the server first.
