Microsoft Exchange 2010 High Availability

HI There, I am working with a new customer on designing an Exchange 2010 that is highly available. I am trying to design the correct number of servers.

What i was thinking is having 4 servers with the following setup.

2 x Mailbox servers with DAG
2 x Servers with HT and CAS and load balance these in some method

Is it possible to have just 2 servers with all the above roles.

We will be using external mail filtering for spam and filtering.

Any advise and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

cheers

You will need 4 because DAG uses Clustering and CAS Array uses Network Load Balancing, unless you invest in a hardware load balancer, which is mega bucks.

I have a guide here on DAG's: http://www.experts-exchange.com/Software/Server_Software/Email_Servers/Exchange/A_2721-High-Availability-Exchange-2010.html

Great thankyou. So i would be best to combine CAS and HT on 2 servers that would work ? and use NLB on these 2 and have 2 Mailbox servers doing the DAG
