I'm trying to change the source location for the links in an Excel document. Every time I change the location, Excel freezes up. I have try to change it on multiple computers and with Excel 2007 and 2010.  Capture - Change Source Location . Does anyone know what could be causing this?

Few things.

1) If you point it to a different file then does Excel Still Crash? If no, then there is something wrong with that file.

2) Did you try opening Excel in Safe mode and then changing the links?

3) Do you have latest MSOFF updates?

Thanks for the suggestions SiddharthRout! I have the latest updates, and it still crashes in Excel Safe mode. However, linking to another file doesn't crash it.

I upgraded to Windows 7 from XP, so the location the My Documents directory changed. Windows 7 doesn't let you create a "C:\Documents and Settings\User\My Documents\" folder so I can't place them in their original locations.

However, I think the issue is being caused because both these documents are linking to each other and they both don't know where to look.

In that case break all links and then rebuild them?
