If you plan to buy a new PC/Server today most of todays processors are 64-bit capable.
Let me know which processor do you plan to buy?

http://www.intel.com/products/processor/corei3/index.htm

Todays I3 Intel Processors all have 64-bit instruction set, so you can install X64 OS safely
