Moss 2007 creating a default value for single select metadata(dropdown).

In Moss 2007, Currently there are required metadata that defaults to a value from the list.
How can I create a default value 'Select A Value' across all of the single select metadata fields.

using Visual Studio 2008.

Hi there

If I understand your question correctly, you have a list containing a column of the type "Choice" and you have a default value set.

You now want to set a default value for other columns.  Are these columns all in the same list as the first one, or are they in different lists?  If there are different lists, are they all in the same subweb?

Do you want to set the default values as a one-off task or do you want it to happen automatically when a new list is created e.g. as part of a site template?

Just to understand your level of experience, have you done any programming with the SharePoint API before?
