We are looking to implement the following:<br />
PGP Universal Server + PGP Desktop Email + PGP BlackBerry Support<br />

Our aim is to enable the 'Email Proxy' function that will encrypt emails at the client side (provided they have the intended public key) &amp;&nbsp;send off the mail in its encrypted format.<br />
<br />
My question is:<br />
If someone (e.g. a third party) sends an email in the clea,r but with a PGP Zip file attached, to one of our guys: Can this PGP Zip file be opened by the recipient on their BlackBerry device?<br />

Opening PGP file on BlackBerry

An email client, email reader or more formally mail user agent (MUA) is a computer program used to access and manage a user's email. A web application that provides message management, composition, and reception functions is sometimes also considered an email client, but more commonly referred to as webmail.

Email Software

Within Internet message handling services (MHS), a message transfer agent or mail transfer agent (MTA) or mail relay is software that transfers electronic mail messages from one computer to another using a client–server application architecture. A MTA implements both the client (sending) and server (receiving) portions of the Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP). The terms mail server, mail exchanger, and MX host may also refer to a computer performing the MTA function. The Domain Name System (DNS) associates a mail server to a domain with mail exchanger (MX) resource records containing the domain name of a host providing MTA services.

Email Servers

Encryption is the process of encoding messages or information in such a way that only authorized parties can read it. In an encryption scheme, the intended communication information or message, referred to as plaintext, is encrypted using an encryption algorithm, generating ciphertext that can only be read if decrypted. For technical reasons, an encryption scheme usually uses a pseudo-random encryption key generated by an algorithm. An authorized recipient can easily decrypt the message with the key provided by the originator to recipients, but not to unauthorized interceptors.
