Here is my config:
Windows Server 2008 x64
SQL 2008 Standard Edt x64

I have all of the SQL services running under the same domain account, this account is in the "Local Admins" group of windows. When I run the BPA, it tells me that "Fast File Initialization" is not turned on.

Any ideas?

Note:
Instant file initialization is available only on Microsoft Windows XP Professional or Windows Server 2003 or later versions.

Instant file initialization is only available if the SQL Server (MSSQLSERVER) service account has been granted SE_MANAGE_VOLUME_NAME. Members of the Windows Administrator group have this right and can grant it to other users by adding them to the Perform Volume Maintenance Tasks security policy. For more information about assigning user rights, see the Windows documentation.

Instant file initialization is not available when TDE is enabled.

What is TDE and how do I grant SE_MANAGE_VOLUME_NAME?

Thanks for your help!

The "TDE" is "transparent data encryption" - for more details:
http://blogs.msdn.com/b/sql_pfe_blog/archive/2009/12/23/how-and-why-to-enable-instant-file-initialization.aspx

you need to check which NT user is starting your SQL server service and grant
SE_MANAGE_VOLUME_NAME to that account.
