Optimize Print page experience on SharePoint page?

Just launched our first public facing site with SharePoint:

http://researchmatters.noaa.gov/news/Pages/default.aspx

I have a new requirement for enhancing the site: allow a "Print" option for Visitors. The Print output should capture at least the core content of the page, not necessarily the look and feel or sidebars.

Example, when doing a print preview of this page, the output looks terrible:

http://researchmatters.noaa.gov/news/Pages/WarmArctic,ColdContinents.aspx

So, what's the best approach to provide Visitors a print option that encompass the core content (article) of the page while having it look professional?
