What to look for when purchasing contract management software

We are a company that designs and manufactures steel bridges and culverts.  We are looking for contract management software to help us manage our contracts.  Can someone recommend a white paper or something that describes what features we should look for when we are researching Contract Management Software?  Thanks for your help.

There are many sites around that manage the collaboration between contracting parties.  If you don't want the hassle of writing your own system (and it is a big effort) then use a third party product/service, such as (example, picked at random):-
