PSP Vs Alzheimer

Dr says only 20K people have PSP in usa
Progressive Supranuclear Palsy

she did not know how much Alzheimer was present. is there a official number.

the main symptom is brain fog for my aunt. she has been told there is no cure, but not fatal.

how close is this to Alzheimers? is there a known definite cure for Alzheimer?

thanks

PSP is not the same as Alzheimer's Diease but there are simliarities in the symptoms people get.  In Alzheimers there are fewer physical changes.
I'm afraid that curremtly there is no cure for either.
The incidence of PSP varies with age so to get meaningful data you need to look at people in the same age group.
In the US the figures are 1.5:100,000 for the whole population but 7:100,000 for the over 55's
It is a diagnosis based on symptoms and like Alzheimer's can only really be confirmed by autopsy.
Men are more often affected.
