lemon is acid but is said to have alkaline effect. Does it happen in the mouth or after digestion?

what other 'acids' would be supposed to have alkaline effect on the body/teeth.

thanks

It happens during digestion which actually begins slightly in the mouth with saliva, but is completed in the stomach.

But before you go out of your way to try to cure all your diseases with a high alkaline diet, read this.

It depends on what kind of acid and what other things are in the food and what happens when it's digested. It has little to do with the pH of the original food. This link explains it concisely

This link gives a fairly detailed list of foods and how alkalizing they are

But, again, most real doctors and health professionals think that the hype about a high alkalizing diet is all rubbish.
