Hello Experts.
I have a problem with one of my SBS 2008 boxes which I am not able to fix by myself.

Since some days automatic reports are not generated and if i try to generate them manually by clicking 'generate report' link on the SBS console the console crashes with the following error message:

Beschreibung:
  Stopped working

Problemsignatur:
  Problemereignisname:      CLR20r3
  Problemsignatur 01:      console.exe
  Problemsignatur 02:      6.0.5601.8538
  Problemsignatur 03:      4d24e3fe
  Problemsignatur 04:      mscorlib
  Problemsignatur 05:      2.0.0.0
  Problemsignatur 06:      4bf4c227
  Problemsignatur 07:      20c7
  Problemsignatur 08:      143
  Problemsignatur 09:      N3CTRYE2KN3C34SGL4ZQYRBFTE4M13NB
  Betriebsystemversion:      6.0.6002.2.2.0.305.9
  Gebietsschema-ID:      1031

I've searched the web and also the experts exchange website and tried all solutions that are suitabel to my problem without any result.

I have changed nothing on that SBS box. Just the updates were installed and i have renewed the SSL Certificate (as the old one was outdated).

I have tried the following solutions:
- WSUS cleanup wizzard
- shrink SBSMONITORING log

Thanks for your help in advance!

I had the exact same problem with a customers SBS 08 server but don't recall the fix.  I will dig through my records and let you know what I find.

This might seem like a random question, but in the SBS console - is the Updates reporting as happy or is it showing a problem?

All I did on the server with the same problem was fix WSUS to set it back to SBS Defaults (customer had changed something) and the reporting seemed to fix itself!!

OMG ... i was so on a  SQL Database problem that I haven't checked the other functions of the console.
I switched to the Security -> Updates view. The console generates the overview without any issue. BUT if i click the 'change settings for softwareupdates' task the console is crashing.
You are on the right way solving my problem :-)
Do you have further information on how to fix the WSUS and set it back to SBS defaults (can't remember that i have changed anything on WSUS).

THANKS!

Fingers crossed it works the same for you as it did for me : )

OK, got it!
I don't know why, but the group Update Service Excluded Computers was missing and instead of that a nother group 'Nicht zugewiesene Computer' (German) was added....

After adding the missing group the SBS Console is working again and reports are genereated though!

Random - but glad I was not just lucky in fixing the problem I had on my customers server!

Well done and thanks for the points.
