Symantec Enterprise Vault 8 client toolbar is missing in Outlook 2007 SP2 ?

Hi All,

I just don't understand why all in a sudden the EV button on my Outlook 2007 goes missing in the desktop and laptop of my users ?

here's the version that I use:

 

Enterprise Vault
Symantec Corporation
Version: 8.0.4.1991
 
any help to bring it back again please ?

Make sure the ou/group that's being used is pointing to to the correct provisioning group.

How are you deploying the EV Client? Group Policy?

using 3rd party application called Managesoft

I'm using Exchange Server 2007 SP1 with CCR

Sounds like EV is not picking up provisiong group or the desktop policy in the provisioning group is not working.  Cehck your Provisioning task log and see which mailbxoes apply to which provisioning group

'rovisioning task log' --> where to find that ? is it through Windows event viewer?

Run the provisioning task, ensure logging is on, then go to the EV server c:\prog files\enterprise vautl\logs

To All,

The problem was enabling outlook anywhere causing the EV to stop working in the client since by default the EV Client on Outlook Anywhere was restricted, problem solved after enabling the policy from the server.

Note: Without the EV Client SP4 hotfix is not possible to spot on this problem because there was no warning message about the EV Client stopped by the EV Policy due to outlook anywhere set in place last month.

If you enable outlook anywhere by default it uses rpc over http(s).  For this to work out of the box you can install OWA Extensions on your CAS and follow the instructions in the install guide and it will work just fine.  You stated that you didn't change anything so I was looking at the EV side to troubleshoot.

yes,it wasn't me who did the change before and now the cuplrit has been found out all users rejoiced :-)

If you're going to use OWA or RPC/HTTPS then I would advise installing the owa extensions as it will make your a lot easier
